Vocabulary
7) Spelling comp- Say a word, everyone has to type the spelling. First correct answer wins
8) Backs to the board-first correct written answer is documented!!! No more fights about who called it.
9) Information gap- send a text to student A who had to do whatever with student B
10) Emoji vocab. Send an emoji to the class group. First student to respond with the correct answer (and spelling) wins.
Further practice includes
-one student sends to the class, and then break up into small groups or pairs.
-include singular, plural or quantifier tasks by typing the same emoji e.g. 5 x pig emoji = "several pigs"
11) Emoji bingo- create bingo cards with pictures of e.g. vegetables on one side and names o vegetables on the other.
Send the name of a vegetable (or whatever vocab you're focussing on) and students cross out their picture emoji until someone has bingo.
Then, students turn over their bingo cards and you send them an emoji. They need to select the name of the vegetable. Make it harder by adding one or more incorrect spellings of the same vegetable.
13) make a standard gap fill more interesting-students type out the questions with underscore or emoji where the gap should be. Their whatsapp partner has to respond with the missing word.
16) Vocab research-assign a different word for each pair to look up. They need to write the word and definition.
18) Memory check- text a list e.g. adjectives. Students work out dependent prepositions, then write out a complete list, then turn their phones over and try to write the whole list. Then, partner tests them.
